If something isn't working the way you expect, the answers below cover the usual questions. For anything else, email the developer — include your macOS version and, if it helps, a screenshot. Replies usually take a day or two.

Getting started

  1. After launch, the GlassDock icon appears in the menu bar and the onboarding window opens.
  2. Onboarding suggests hiding the standard Dock: System Settings › Desktop & Dock › “Automatically hide and show the Dock”, or press ⌥⌘D. GlassDock never changes this setting for you.
  3. Calendar and notification permissions are requested only when you enable the related widget.
  4. Finder is pinned first by default. Use “Import from my system Dock” to bring your existing Dock over in one click, or “Choose apps…” to add apps.
  5. Optional: turn on “Launch at login” in Settings › Behavior.

Right-click the panel for “Add widget…”, “Customize dock…” and “Add folder…”. Drag icons to reorder them; right-click an icon for Open, Bring to front, Show in Finder and Remove.

Frequently asked questions

Does GlassDock modify Apple's Dock?

No. GlassDock is a separate panel. It doesn't inject code, use private APIs or touch the system Dock.

How do I use it as my only dock?

Turn on “Automatically hide and show the Dock” in System Settings › Desktop & Dock (or press ⌥⌘D). GlassDock's onboarding walks you through it.

Why does it ask for Automation permission for Music or Spotify?

Only the Music widget uses it, to send play/pause/next and read the current track. macOS shows the standard consent prompt; you can decline and the rest of the app works as usual.

Which widgets use the internet?

Weather (Open-Meteo) and Stocks (Yahoo Finance) — both optional and off by default. Nothing else connects.

How do I reset everything?

Menu bar icon › Settings › Advanced › Reset to factory settings.

Where are my settings stored?

In the app's local preferences on your Mac. Use Settings › Profiles › Export… to save your dock layout and profiles as JSON, and Import… to restore them on another Mac.

The panel doesn't show on my external display.

Open Settings › Behavior › Screen and choose the display you want. GlassDock follows the screen you pick and re-attaches when displays are connected or removed.
